About Camprtron
Camprtron is a rig-aware camping discovery tool for Colorado, built by Camprtron LLC. We rank dispersed (free) and developed (reservable) camping sites based on access type, terrain, and your vehicle’s actual capabilities, not just what looks good on a map.
Why rig-aware matters
Colorado has thousands of dispersed camping sites, but reaching many of them requires high-clearance or 4×4 capability. Generic camping finders don’t tell you that. They show you sites your passenger car can’t reach. Camprtron does.
Our access-type data comes from USFS Motor Vehicle Use Maps (MVUM), enriched with PostGIS spatial analysis. Every site carries a suitability rating for passenger car, high-clearance, and 4×4-capable rigs. You set your rig; we filter and rank accordingly.
What we cover
Colorado dispersed camping on National Forest and BLM land, plus developed campgrounds from the Recreation Information Database (RIDB). We cover elevation, seasonal windows, water proximity, and fire-closure overlaps. Derived from authoritative government data, never crowdsourced.
Our data
All data comes from public-domain government sources: USFS, BLM, Colorado Parks & Wildlife, and Recreation.gov. We run PostGIS spatial analysis and publish our methodology openly. See Data & Methodology for details.
