About Camprtron

Camprtron is a camping finder covering 43 states across the Mountain West, New England, Texas, the Pacific Northwest, California, the Great Plains, the Mid-Atlantic North, the Northwoods, the Ozarks, Appalachia North, Appalachia South, and the Gulf South, built by Inglehoff LLC, expanding toward all 50. We rank dispersed (free) and developed (reservable) camping sites based on access type, terrain, and your vehicle’s actual capabilities, not just what looks good on a map.

Camprtron is built by a longtime dispersed camper who has spent years navigating forest-service roads and MVUMs across the state. Every guide is written from firsthand backcountry experience and cross-checked against public-domain USFS, BLM, RIDB, and NHD data.

Why rig-aware matters

The Western states have thousands of dispersed camping sites, but reaching many of them requires high clearance or 4×4 capability. Generic camping finders don’t tell you that. They show you sites your passenger car can’t reach. Camprtron does.

Our access-type data comes from USFS Motor Vehicle Use Maps (MVUM), enriched with PostGIS spatial analysis. Every site carries a suitability rating for passenger car, high clearance, and 4×4 capable rigs. You set your rig; we surface the suitability rating and rank accordingly, a tag and a warning, never a filter that hides sites.

We cover elevation, seasonal windows, water proximity, and fire-closure overlaps. Derived from authoritative government data, never crowdsourced.

Our data

All data comes from public-domain government sources: USFS, BLM, Colorado Parks & Wildlife, and Recreation.gov. We run PostGIS spatial analysis and publish our methodology openly. See Data & Methodology for details.
