South Mineral Campground

National Forest · Developed campground

This developed campground in the San Juan National Forest has 26 first-come, first-served sites located along South Mineral Creek. It serves as a base for recreational vehicle use. Most campsites are shaded and well-spaced among fir and spruce trees; some are accessible and others have large parking areas. Amenities include pit toilets, fire grates, picnic tables, water, and trash pickup. No electricity is available, and bear-safe food storage is recommended. From September to May, services are shut off, and campers must pack out all waste. The popular Ice Lake Trail is adjacent to the campground. The nearest town for supplies is Ophir, about 5 miles away.
