Aspen-sopris Ranger District

This developed campground in the White River National Forest is located in Carbondale, which provides all services. The area offers a wide range of year-round activities. Water recreation includes boating, swimming, and fishing in gold-medal trout waters. An extensive trail system supports hiking, biking, horseback riding, and off-highway vehicles. The forest is a popular destination for big-game hunting, with large populations of elk and deer, as well as for wildlife viewing. Winter sports are also available. Ranger-led interpretive programs and a visitor center provide information about the surrounding area.
