Hawaii State Parks · Developed campground
Kalōpā State Recreation Area is a developed campground managed by Hawaii State Parks. The 100-acre park sits at a 2,000-foot elevation within a native ʻōhiʻa forest that includes a native plant arboretum. The site offers reservable tent camping and duplex cabins that sleep eight people. Cabins include toilets, hot showers, a gas range, and a refrigerator, but guests must provide their own linen and bedding. A 0.7-mile family-friendly nature trail loops through the park, and an adjoining forest reserve has more trails, including a two-mile horse loop. The nearest town for supplies is Honokaʻa, about 3 miles away.
